Dovetail Tool Chest

How do you build an old tool chest?
We did it by replicating the details you might find in an antique tool chest — like solid wood construction, a frame and panel lid, and heavy iron hardware.

An old-fashioned hasp and lock keeps everything inside safe and secure. We chose dovetail joints to add both strength and beauty to the project. However, many old tool chests were built using rabbet joints and nails - so we've also included instructions for building the chest in this more traditional style.
